Obesity due to Toxins

The major contributing factors towards obesity in South Asians is the lack of physical exercise and increased calorie consumption. Every day coffee shops are bombarded with lineups of coffees, lattes containing chemicals hormone-disruptors and additives. Artificial sweeteners and antibiotic milk products and by products, as well as GMO dependent choices of food are the major cause of the rise in estrogen in the body leading to more fat cells and more obesity.

The obesity level worldwide is almost 40% and about 66% people from the Pacific nations and the Persian Gulf are obese or overweight. According to the WHO,the Americas, Europe and the Middle East were amongst the countries that had over weight issues. Studies have also shown that people eating out in restaurants or fast food eaters had more chemicals in their bodies then the ones eating at home. However even though people did exercise or did some sort of exercise it was very difficult losing the weight. A lot of obese or overweight people had thyroid issues and autoimmune symptoms as well as children showed sign of early puberty.

The chemicals in our environment make it harder for people to lose weight. Phthalates is a chemical that makes plastic flexible and is a endocrine disruptor, causing thyroid issues as well as early puberty and autoimmune issues in overweight and obese people. Another chemical compound called obesogens disrupts the normal development and balance of lipid metabolism which leads to obesity. Obesogens also disrupt your sex hormones which results in decreased growth hormone secretion, lowers cortisol levels and increases insulin resistance. BPA’s are found in hard plastics, Arsenic is found in herbicides, insecticides, pesticides, rice and electronic devices. Lead is present in tea as well. PFOA (perfluorooctanoic acid) is found in non-stick cookware. Mercury is found in fish. Triclosan is found in hand sanitizers, soaps and toothpaste.
